The
first edition of the directory of discounts for members of Fit
Christchurch has now been published.
People
who have already signed up, for free, to be part of the Fit
Christchurch project can now present their membership cards at a number
of businesses in the Borough to benefit from a range of discounts and
special offers.
Benefits
include everything from taster sessions at local sports clubs to
discounts on treatments at health practitioners or from local shops and
The
Fit Christchurch programme is led by a network of organisations
including Christchurch Borough Council, Christchurch Community
Partnership, Christchurch Schools Sport Partnership, Christchurch Food
Festival Education Trust and Dorset PCT.
The
programme
held a
successful Fun Day on the Quomps at Christchurch Quay last year and
another Fun Day is being planned this year for the same venue on Saturday 18 September.
Fit
Christchurch aims to increase the number of people in Christchurch who
eat healthily, engage in regular physical activity and maintain a
healthy body mass.
Anyone
wishing to sign up to the programme, free of charge, will be able to
benefit from the discounts and offers arranged with local companies. Any
local companies wishing to be included in the scheme are also invited to take
part.

What do you think to this idea ? Do you think its great as people should be aware of what they are eating and encouraged to be more active or do you think events and initiatives are a waste of time and money ?
