Proposals to close road in Walkford

Residents in and around Chewton Farm Road in Walkford are being asked to give their views on proposals to permanently close the road at its junction with Walkford Road to all through traffic except cyclists.The proposals have come about following representations made to the Council from local residents who are concerned about the speed of some drivers who use the road as a ‘rat run’ to get to Walkford Road.Cllr Nick Geary, a ward councillor for Walkford, said: “Residents have raised the issue of speeding drivers who then have to turn right into Walkford Road at a dangerous junction.“We have written to the residents in the area to ask them for their views on the subject and will act according to the wishes of the majority.”
