Police Appeal after man robbed in Bournemouth

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was robbed in the town centre area of Bournemouth.The incident took place at approximately 7am on Tuesday, 14 July 2009, off Lansdowne Road, outside the Coach House Place entrance near to the Bournemouth Travel Interchange.The victim, a 28-year-old man, from the town, was approached by a man and was punched in the face and pushed to the ground. He was then forced to hand over his mobile phone, a bank card and a quantity of cash.The offender ran off in the direction of Bournemouth train station.He is described as white, pale skinned, around 5'10, of medium build,with dirty blonde long hair, and spoke with a London accent. He waswearing a white jumper and blue jeans at the time of the offence.The victim suffered swelling to the face, and has been left upset andshaken following the incident.Police Constable Steven May, of Bournemouth and Poole CID, said: "This was an unprovoked attack which has left the victim shaken and bruised."The victim was walking down Coach House Place, when a man approached him and asked to use his phone."He declined and walked on, but the offender then requested a cigarette. "As the victim walked away, he was suddenly punched from behind, in the side of the face. As he moved forwards, the offender pushed him to the ground, causing him to kneel down."The offender demanded the victim's property and a large quantity ofcash was handed over, along with his mobile phone and bank card.
