Join The Wessex Autistic Society on Sunday 3rd January 2010 for the ninth annual Nationwide Somerley 10k and 5k run for their first charity race of the year. Millie Gollings (Community & Events Fundraiser at TWAS) with Helen Thomson, last years 10K female winner
A multi-terrain run with a mix of tarmac roads, gravel tracks, grass and footpaths, the charity’s Somerley run is a great opportunity to enjoy a beautiful setting, and is a must attend event for competitive runners.
There is an opportunity to run as an individual or as part of a team. Entries can be made online at www.runnersworld.co.uk or download an entry form from www.twas.org.uk. Pre entry: UKA Club Member - £8, non UKA - £10. On the day entry: UKA member £10, non UKA - £12. To enter as a team the cost is £10 per person with a minimum of four people per team.
Runners are encouraged to raise sponsorship for The Wessex Autistic Society, which couldn’t be easier by setting up your own fundraising page. The charity’s Fundraising Team is on hand to help you every step of the fundraising way, and even offer motivation by awarding a prize for the most sponsorship raised. Every runner raising over £30 sponsorship will receive a FREE race t-shirt, plus each finisher will receive a drink, a medal and chocolate. There will also be prizes for the fastest three male and female runners in each race, fastest team prize, spot prizes, and a veteran prize.
The event attracted over 800 runners last year. To secure your race place please get in touch with the Fundraising Team at The Wessex Autistic Society on 01202 703597. Alternatively visit www.twas.org.uk
If you would like to volunteer at this or any of the charity’s other fundraising events throughout the year, please contact the charity on 01202 703597.
