Hacked off with Parking Ticket

I was laying in bed with a banging headache recently.
I had managed dutifully to telephone work to let them know I would be late in, if at all, that day - HOWEVER, I made that dreadful mistake of NOT remembering the parking wardens that take such pride in their work in Christchurch ! If only all companies could find people who work so diligently and pay such attention to detail this country and its productivity would be through the roof like a shot, I'm sure !
I managed to extracate myself from my bed about 11.15am to go to the bathroom and lo and behold I spied a parking place in my street !!
I threw on some clothes and went to my car - NOOOO those diligent little critters had left a "deposit" on my windscreen.
I remained still and just stared at the "deposit" in a confused state for a while and then noticed the 30 minute sign !
I then stood confused a little longer, as I looked up and down the road to find only one other vehicle parked on that stretch of road for as far as the eye could see !
It doesn't make sense ... PLEASE - Does anyone know a reason for this seemingly crazy restriction ? If you do I would love to know !

But if you knew you couldn't park there, then why did you? There are plenty of places in Christchurch to park for free, and for as long as you like, you just need to get out there and find them. I did when I lived there and I never had any trouble parking. I may have had to walk a little distance to my car sometimes, but I needed the exercise anyway, and it meant I had more beer money for the weekend.

ReportI know the stretch of road you refer to and I have often thought it rather silly that it is only 30 minutes. If it were a seasonal restriction like some of the areas near to Boscombe Pier then it may make more sense, so people didn't clog the road all day in peak season. Maybe we should get some comment from the council ?

ReportIsnt the reason to put money in the councils coffers, I think they should try to beat Brighton Council Charges and go for a £10 an hour parking fee. I thought half hour free parking only happened at supermarkets if you didnt shop there.
To have it on your doorstep is absolutely ridiculous if you dont have off road parking which is the councils planning departments fault for not making sure houses were built with off road parking, to make people suffer especially just daytime parking half hour restriction, what about those people who work nights and need somewhere to park where they live during the daytime? or they have a holiday and have a week decorating leaving they vehicle outside there house, what do you do with it then?
If your going to have a stupid half hour restriction, then surely it should be 24 hours, because it makes no difference, or is it because the parking wardens dont do unsocial hours?
Isnt it just a way for councils to rip us off again
