Governments Boiler Scrappage Scheme

CHRISTCHURCH heating specialist AquaCare is predicting an increase in business on the back of the Government’s boiler scrappage scheme.

The property services and maintenance company, which is owned by Bournemouth & West Hampshire Water, has confirmed it is doubling the £400 allowance offered by the Government to people scrapping their old boilers.
That means eligible householders could be entitled to £800 off the cost of a new boiler.
Simon Booth, AquaCare’s Managing Director, said: “This scheme is good for the planet, by getting rid of old and inefficient boilers, and, potentially, good news for installers such as ourselves.”
Nationally, 125,000 households look set to benefit from the £50 million scheme. Households with G-rated models will be eligible to receive £400 towards the cost of a replacement ‘A’ rated energy efficient boiler.
New ‘A’ rated boilers are 90 per cent energy efficient and can save households up to £235 a year in energy costs as well as reduce carbon emissions.
Replacing all of the 125,000 boilers could save 140,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, the equivalent of taking 45,000 cars off the road.
It is estimated the scrappage scheme will help sustain work for 130,000 installers and more than 25 boiler manufacturers.
The AquaCare scrappage scheme runs in conjunction with the Government initiative. Eligible households could be able to get a maximum of £800 off the price of a new ‘A’ rated boiler.
The figure breaks down as:
• £400 scrappage from the Government
• £400 scrappage from AquaCare
Aquacare has also stressed that anyone with an old boiler who does not qualify for the Government scheme will still qualify for its £400 scrappage allowance provided their boiler is 15 years old, open-flued, gravity-fed or cast iron, subject to survey.
Mr Booth said: “We are expecting a large volume of enquiries, not least because the Government scheme will only be available for a limited time period. I would urge anyone who could be eligible for this scheme to take advantage of it as soon as possible.”

Hmm I think all these scrappage schemes are a con because the prices are loaded in the first place. You can buy a boiler from B&Q for under £500. Aquacare I believe are quoting their boilers start from £999.

Reportgood scheme, BUT does that mean we don't get any more discount from the supplier.
Like the car scheme garages made the profit as they used the govt money as the discount not needing to give you the special offer they would have done
