Have you been out geocaching yet? For those folk who are not aware of the addictive game that is geocaching, take a look here for an easy explanation.

Very simply, geocaching is the game of finding a Tupperware container with the aid of technology. There are currently over 30,000 caches hidden around the UK, with an estimated 100 in the New Forest National Park alone. Twelve geocaches are hidden in Christchurch, taking players variously along the high street to the Priory and across the Stour River. Hengistbury Head is the hiding place of three geocaches, and there are two around Southbourne beach.

To take part, log in to the official Groundspeak website, sign in, membership is free, type in your post code and you'll be shown where all the caches are in your immediate area.

All you need is a handheld GPS, although a TomTom or Garmin SatNav works just as well. Add a dash of adventurous spirit, stir in a couple of energetic children with a handful of happy dog and you will be in for some fun.

Christchurch boasts many excellent bed and breakfast venues, too.
