Friday evening saw the start of the beer festival at the Nelson Tavern, Mudeford. Although the beer festival runs for four days Friday and Saturday has been dedicated to raise money for one of the Mayors Charities. This year The Mayor of Christchurch, Cllr David Flagg has nominated The Christchurch Air Cadets Squadron Band as his worthy cause and is raising money to help purchase their own drums for the band. Cllr. Flagg said "The instruments the cadets currently use are mainly borrowed from organisations in the region but the time has come that the cadet band should own their own, these youngsters put so much effort and hard work into what they do they, are a credit to their town"

The beer is flowing, with proceeds going towards the ATC band until 10pm Saturday 29th August 2008. Buy your ticket from behind the bar, then head on out into the beer tent to choose your ale or one of 6 ciders !
