Last night, 5th December, saw the grand switch on of the Christchurch Christmas Lights. Cllr. David Flagg, Mayor of Christchurch and Santa had the honour of turning on the lights.

Switching on the Christchurch Christmas lights.
There was a market and live music throughout the day. Despite the torrential rain moving in just before the lights were due to be turned on, it didn't dampen the crowds enthusiasm and the town was packed. After the lights had been switched on Santa, along with his reindeer moved into the Priory Church grounds so the children could get close and ask if they were on the "naughty list!"
Mulled wine, fruit punch and marshmallow with chocolate kebabs were sold. A lady from Highliffe said, "What a wonderful way to start Christmas, despite the weather".

ReportI don't think that lady who looks like their mother can be considered one of the "children" ;) On the other hand, it's ncie that Santa is out in full swing and making children happy. It's a shame it rained, but I guess we can't expect sunshine in December.
