In early Summer 2009, the Rotary Club of Christchurch was delighted to host 26 members and partners from its twin Rotary Club of Cognac, France, to foster fellowship in the spirit of the Rotary International movement, and to progress joint activities. Members also discussed increasing the number of exchange visits by young people from either town, both for their own development, and also to increase international understanding generally. The visit to the Christchurch area included:An evening reception after the visitors' long journey at the Galleon public house, Highcliffe;A tour of the National Motor Museum and the many other attractions at Beaulieu;A boat trip from Christchurch to take lunch at the Beach House on Mudeford Spit;A Gala Dinner at the Captain's Club Hotel, Christchurch.Christchurch Rotary is a group of about 42 men and women which meets on most Tuesday evenings at The Christchurch Harbour Hotel, Mudeford (formerly The Avonmouth Hotel). It has a social programme, but more importantly organises a range of events and activities to provide services and to raise funds for local and international good causes. These activities form part of the international Rotary movement’s many actions to serve the community both at home and abroad, and to promote international goodwill, understanding and peace. The Club welcomes enquiries from people who would like to know more about Rotary or who might like to investigate the possibility of joining.Anyone interested in learning more about Rotary is invited to write to: The Secretary, Rotary Club of Christchurch, c/o The Christchurch Harbour Hotel, 95 Mudeford, Christchurch, BH23 3NT
