BBC Radio presenter David Allen is sharing the best of Dorset for charity with the launch of a brand new walking DVD.
The presenter who broadcasts to thousands of listeners every weekend on BBC local radios Solent, Sussex, Surrey, Berkshire and Oxford has taken a film crew with him on his favourite walks through the Dorset countryside to produce a stunning DVD “My Dorset”.
The net proceeds from the DVD will go to Bournemouth Hospital’s Jigsaw appeal, which is raising money for new facilities for patients with cancer and blood disorders.
Ian Catley who heads the Jigsaw Appeal said, “Supporting the Jigsaw
Appeal and creating this DVD of Dorset walks are two great ambitions. David has given our fundraising a boot where it needs it.”
The DVD features David doing five of his favourite walks in his beloved
home county of Dorset. On the way he meets many local people with
fascinating stories to tell about the history, folklore and wildlife of the
landscape.
David said, “I’m often talking about my favourite places in Dorset on
my radio show and I hope this DVD will inspire people to put on their
walking boots and do the walks too. What’s more the net proceeds of
the sales of the DVD will go to a cause I care very much -
Bournemouth Hospital’s Jigsaw Appeal.”
The DVD is being launched at a charity gig in aid of the Jigsaw Appeal being compered by David at the Christchurch Regent on Friday 16th October 2009. He’ll be introducing the brilliant Concorde All Stars big band.
The DVD is priced at £10.99 available for sale online at www.mydorset.net
