BOWLATHON BOWLS CHARITY OVER WITH DONATIONS!
This year’s President of the
Branksome Park Bowling Club, Lynn Jenkins, has announced The Wessex Autistic
Society as the club’s chosen Charity of the Year 2010. As their major fundraiser,
the Bowling Club hosted a marathon 12 hour bowling event from 9am to 9pm
recently.
Lynn Jenkins, President of
Branksome Park Bowling Club comments, “We had a really wonderful day with
everyone from the club getting involved. Local businesses were very supportive and
our members and their families made sure the bowlathon was a huge success by
getting involved in many different ways and helping us raise over £2,870 for
the Society.”
The 12 hour Marathon ‘Bowlathon’ was divided into 6 two-hour sessions,
the scores for the match continuing throughout the day. All 96 members of the
club participated in the day’s event and encouraged friends, family, colleagues
and neighbours to kindly sponsor the bowlers and also helped with stalls,
raffles and more.
Sarah Bohn, Community and
Events Fundraiser at The Wessex Autistic Society comments, “Everyone at the
Society is overwhelmed by the support we have received from the members of
Branksome Park Bowling Club. The amount raised from this event has far exceeded
our expectations and this money will truly make a difference to the Charity. We
thank everyone who participated and sponsored, and especially extend our thanks
to Lynn and Hilary Jenkins who put so much hard work into organising the
event.”
