Christchurch is a truly a lovely place to be – infact the

council motto is “Where time is pleasant” and it surely is !

Here is our top 10 places to visit whilst in Christchurch.

1.Christchurch

Priory - Visitors never fail to be amazed to find such a beautiful church

tucked away in this corner of Dorset, where it dominates the skyline of our

historic town.

2.  Christchurch

Quay – The Quay is a beautiful place to visit and for the kids there is a

play ground and newly installed splash park too.  A small ferry runs from The Quay to take

visitors to Mudeford and also across to Tuckton and Wick Village.  Bands can be seen on the bandstand during the

summer months.

3.  Place

Mill - A carefully restored mill situated on

Christchurch Quay at the confluence of the rivers Stour and Avon. Although

unable to grind corn, the wheel is able to turn when tidal conditions are

right. Place Mill is home to a permanent market of arts and crafts, where local

artists and crafts people are encouraged to exhibit and sell their work.

4.  The Red

House Museum and Gardens - A charming Georgian building, built as a

workhouse in 1764, now filled with a rich variety of displays and objects which

reflect the social and natural history of the area, its geology and

5. Highcliffe

Castle, Highcliffe  - a beautiful

Grade 1 listed mansion house set in cliff-top grounds in Highcliffe was built

by Lord Stuart de Rothschild in the 1830s.

6.  Museum of

Electricity, Bargates – Housed in an Edwardian Power Station. It has

fascinating examples of local electrical generating and distribution equipment,

hands on demonstrations, collections of electrical appliances, Electricity

Services vehicles and even a fully restored 1911 tram! Free entry from Easter.

7.  Adventure

Wonderland - Dorset's number one theme park for boys and girls aged two to

fourteen. The all-inclusive park combines the timeless fun and games of the

Alice in Wonderland story with the thrilling outdoor adventure rides of the

main park and the undercover Lost Aztec World of Wild Thing! and also has the

largest themed Hedge Maze in the south.

8.  Snowtrax

Year round ski-ing, tobogganing and do-nuts ! There's an Alpine Adventure Park

too with an overhead cable ride, Alpine Fort, slides, swings, trampolines and

Tiny Tot Fort ... it's great fun for the kids! – Matchams Lane, Christchurch.

9.  Bournemouth

Aviation Museum – A hands on aviation experience ! The Museum is on the

B3073 Bournemouth International Airport perimeter road - Follow the signs to

the Airport, or Adventure Wonderland.  Enter

10. Avon

Beach – between Mudeford Quay and Friars Cliff, two miles east of

Christchurch. Avon beach has safe swimming and paddling with Beach Cafe and

shop plus deck chair, canoe and beach hut hire. Avon Beach has its own car park

and there are council car parks at Avon Run Road and Mudeford Quay.Dogs are banned between May and the end of
