Billie Piper has been photographed with her 21 month old son sitting in a pub garden swathed in sunshine. The only problem is that it's just not the sun her and her son are bathing in. Miss Piper has surrounded him in her exhaled cigarette smoke.

It's suprising after all the education about smoking and its health risks that a mother would still inflict second hand smoke on her child.  Obviously it wasn't intentional, but it's thoughtless.

Don't get me wrong - I know all too well how difficult it is to stop smoking as I'm in my 7th month of "being clean" but in all the years I smoked, I never smoked infront of, or in the proximity of our child. Apart from the implications of second hand smoke I always felt it sent out the wrong signals i.e. if my mum or dad smokes then its ok for me to smoke ! I dont know, neither my parents smoked, yet I did take the habit up and have struggled with it ever since !

On my outings into Christchurch I am amazed though by the amount of parents smoking over their children whilst they lay oblivious in their buggies, with the ash precariously hanging about their heads - if you love someone - why would you want to puff cigarette smoke in their face or inflict your habit on them ?

What do you think ? have your say.

A comment left on Christchurch Dorset, our Facebook site from Coral Smith says :-
"Definitely not!! I can't believe it when I see this happening. Surely everyone knows by now how dangerous this is for children, let alone the smoker. Passive smoking is far more dangerous than actually smoking a cigarette yourself because of the chemicals that are emitted in the smoke. Why would anyone want to do that to their own child or anyone elses for that matter?"

A valid point we think and we are in total agreement with Coral but, what do you think ?
