Burton - Awash with signs !

One of our readers has raised a point about Burton. Mr_V_Meldrew writes

"How much did it cost us tax payers for putting up the signs in Burton!

Keep off the verge, How excessive every few metres and why are their

large speed signs when you're already in the speed limit? should be

small signs continuing the limit!! I guess somebody got carried away.

All the road signs make the place look very unattractive . . . "

I must admit, I recently was driving along Old Christchurch Road heading towards Ringwood, passed Burton and I did notice that stretch of road does seems to be awash with signs and all within a very short distance of each other.

Who's idea was it and how much were the signs ? I understand that verges are not to be parked on but, rather than the signs being placed at reasonable intervals as a message to motorists, if they were any closer they would become a fence !!!

What do you think, have you seen the signs and do you think it's a waste of local councils funding ?
