Going quackers: (left to right) Tracy Macey, BWHW’s Customer Service Manager; Pat Fail, Carnival President, and Ali Daubney, Chair of Bournemouth Carnival, prepare for the duck races.
That’s the message from Bournemouth & West Hampshire Water (BWHW) which is sponsoring one of the five duck races at this year’s Bournemouth Carnival Week.
BWHW is backing all the events on Tuesday August 3 including a sand
building competition, beach quiz and chalk drawing contest at Alum Chine.
Other events on the day include a display by Dance Zone on the Pier
Approach (7.15pm); a performance by the Winton Salvation Army Band at the Pine Walk band stand (7.30pm) and the duck race in Bourne Stream, Lower Gardens (4.45pm).
This year’s Bournemouth Carnival Week, marking the town’s bicentenary,
gets underway on Monday August 2 and features more than 30 events,
culminating in the main carnival procession and gala night on Sunday August 8.
Roger Harrington, BWHW’s Managing Director, said: “As suppliers of drinking water to Bournemouth for many generations, and having sponsored the carnival for more than a decade, we are delighted to continue our support in this bicentenary year.
“Bournemouth Carnival is a fantastic community event which appeals to locals and visitors alike and we’re proud to play our part in its continued success.”
Ali Daubney, Chair of Bournemouth Carnival, said: “We couldn’t put on this event without the generosity of our sponsors, including Bournemouth & West Hampshire Water. We’re very grateful to them for their wonderful support.”
