Christchurch council asking residents for views on the future of the Borough
Christchurch Borough Council is asking local people for their views on how they would like to see the Borough developing up until 2027.
Like all local planning authorities in the country, Christchurch Borough Council is preparing its Local Development Framework (LDF). This is made up of a number of documents that, when complete, will outline a vision for the future.
At the centre of the LDF is the Core Strategy which covers a wide range
of issues, including future provision of housing, economic development,
development of the airport, transport, public open space, affordable housing, leisure and community facilities in the Borough.
The authority has worked in partnership with East Dorset District Council to produce the draft Core Strategy, to address how our corner of Dorset should look in the future.
Some of the main proposals include:
• A vision for the future of Christchurch.
• Options for housing, including affordable housing and new housing on
a site north of Christchurch
• Options for the development of Christchurch and Highcliffe town
centres.
• Options for future growth of Bournemouth Airport.
• Options for the provision of open space.
• Options for areas of flood risk.
The public have until Christmas to let the Council know their thoughts on the proposals before the next version of the Core Strategy is produced which will again go back to the public for their further views.
The Leader of Christchurch Borough Council, Cllr Alan Griffiths, said: “The Core Strategy is one of the most important documents the Council produces.
It sets out the direction for development up to 2027 and looks to ensure that we retain and improve on the Borough’s first class environment.
“I hope that all residents, businesses, groups and visitors will take the time to have their say on the Borough’s future.”

ReportYou're right Blackseff0. If we are too cynical, we will never have our input on anything. And if we don't like it, we just vote them out next time round.

ReportYeah i understand what you're saying PhilipJ but that doesn't mean the public can be complacent. We should have our say.

ReportIn my experience, it's all just a tick box exercise. They say they want local people's views, but they don't really. They rarely take notice of what local people think. They have an idea in mind and then steer the answers towards that.
