Please can someone tell me,why some Christchurch residents are being supplied waste bags/refuse bags from the council? When the majority of us have to purchase ours. Also are we ever going to be supplied with refuse bins?So much more hygienic and deters vermin .

Thanks Helen (Christchurch resident)

In sussex they have 3 huge bins, 1 for refuse 1 for garden waste and 1 for recycling. They can't be kept out of sight let alone find somewhere to put them on your property. then wait till you get the side loading vehicles that have an arm that comes out of the side and picks up bin emptying up top and sometimes all over the road. Very expensive vehicles to run compared with before. They have also smashed into parked cars with the arm. The bins are left all day on the pavements making it impossible for parent and pushchairs to go anywhere as with disabled buggys. Don't wish for it too quickly but its coming. Sussex was a trial area

I agree, refuse bins are the way to go, but only if you clean them out once in a while.

No idea why the council are giving out bags, maybe they have some extra money to spend?
