Dorset Community Safety Partnership (CSP) is
-
VIRTUAL MEETING - A Postitive Response
excited to announce the achievement of their first virtual public meeting held,
Wednesday 8 December 2010.
More than 70 people joined
in an online discussion
in an innovative virtual meeting hosted by the Dorset Community Safety
Partnership.
The meeting was held
online live between 4 – 6pm on the Dorset website www.dorsetforyou.com and on www.weymouth.gov.uk, where it proved to be popular with
residents as they were able to put their questions to the panel including
police, councils, NHS, probation and fire service.
Residents could simply
log on and pose a question to the panel from the comfort of their own home or
workplace, or visit the Dorford Centre, Dorchester
to ask their question in person.
The
meeting has given
Dorset Community Safety Partnership a new way of engaging with residents
of Dorset and opened up the possibility of further internet
based events for the partnership across the county.
Councillor Ray Nottage,
Chair of the Dorset Community Safety Partnership, said: ”This online
virtual meeting has been a new and innovative way for us to communicate with Dorset residents and it was certainly very exciting
throughout “A whole host of
residents logged on and the panel was inundated with questions throughout the
whole two hours.
“It really does
give us an idea of the issues that really concern residents across the county.
Thanks to everyone that took part.”
Some of the questions answered
on the night were based around crime figures in Dorset,
funding, road safety and speeding in towns, anti-social behaviour, Home Watch,
graffiti and rural crime.
Unfortunately, due to the number of questions that were received during the
meeting, not all questions could be answered live. The team will however, make
sure that all questions do receive a response, either via email or on www.dorsetforyou.com/virtualmeeting
where a full question and answer briefing sheet will be provided.

I am pleased this innovative way of reaching out to residents has worked! I must admit I was wondering if the dorsetforyou server would be able to cope - apparently the site crashed during the snowfall with the amount of people logging on trying to find out whether schools were closed. Well I'm pleased it all worked and will try to log on next time myself (I was at work). Dorset says welcome to the 21st century!
