A team of 5 delegates from Christchurch Community Partnership will be attending the: Sustainable Transport Conference and Exhibition 2012: Enabling Sustainable Choices at The Brewery Conference Centre, London
on Wednesday 31st October 2012
The theme of the conference this year is 'Enabling Sustainable Choices' with direct reference to The Local Sustainable Transport Fund, an unprecedented funding boost for sustainable transport projects which aims to:
• Cut red tape for councils while cutting carbon;
• Create quick wins locally by investing in smaller scale schemes to create jobs; and
• Give local people more power over initiating innovative transport schemes.
See http://tinyurl.com/cnjdr25 for further details.
Dorset County Council are responsible for delivery of Local Sustainable Transport Fund Schemes for Christchurch as part of the wider 'Three Towns Corridor' Project connecting the 3 Towns of the Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch Conurbation.
In keeping with the aims of the conference, the organisers 'Gov Today' have offered five fully funded places to support attendance by Local Community and Voluntary Groups; so we can put together a strong team to make the most of the event.
And in recognition of the conurbation wide scope of the project and to encourage stronger partnership working on cross-border Travel and Access Issues we have reserved one place for a new volunteer to join the Christchurch delegation.
If you or someone you know has an interest in enabling economic and environmental sustainability in Christchurch and surrounding areas and are keen to make a local contribution then please let us know.
Please phone John Grantham on 07886 888480 for further details.
Applications will be assessed according to strength of local connection and how well skills and experience complement the team.
The delegate list should be finalised by Sunday 30th September so please do get in touch as soon as possible.
