I've contacted the Chamber of Trade about this but thought I'd bring it up here as well in case anyone's interested ... the benefits of welcoming dogs into the town, the closeness of a walking area behind the shops (Druitt Gardens) being just one of many advantages the town can offer dog owners.

The Kennel Club run a Dogs Welcome campaign:

... where shops can display a 'dogs allowed' sign, at the moment it's really difficult to know which shops and bars allow dogs and which don't. It's a misconception that places that serve food do not allow dogs, there is NO law against it, maybe they shouldn't wander round the kitchen but ...

Towns up and down the country are gaining footfall by being dog friendly.

BBC Radio 4 featured Keswick and it's dog friendly attitude on Thursday 27th Dec … go to iPlayer and listen to the "You and Yours" programme broadcast at mid-day.

I'm surprised this dog friendliness is not being pursued, surely the town should be doing everything it can to get visitors into Christchurch and this will cost the traders NOTHING !
