Is there anything that can be done about the speed of all traffic in Bargates and Barrack Road ... I am stunned by the way people drive in these two roads ... of course there are often queues and the traffic stops moving but as soon as a driver sees a bit of empty road in front down goes the foot ! I've been near to being hit on a number of occasions and I'm pretty quick on my feet ... in both roads there's one pedestrian crossing but I don't always want to go out of my way to suit the drivers ... it's especially irritating to watch someone drive past the police station at 45mph ... I also loathe speed cameras as they only work 100 yds either side of them but maybe the signs that flash up the speed of the traffic might help and serve as a reminder of the speed limit. I think Barrack Road, because it has stretches of 'dual carriageway' seems like a 40mph road when, of course, it's 30 mph ... anyway, moan of the day over ... Roger

A fair point especially since there is a police station right next to the road! but i would hate to see speed cameras start popping up around christchurch. Not sure about Bargates though, traffic is always really heavy there so ive never seen speeding to that degree.

Yep - I don't want to see speed cameras but the signs that flash up the drivers speed could well be a reminder that it is a 30 limit ... yes Bargates is generally busy but when it's not people hit 45/50 easily !
