I have just posted a comment in support of having a Wetherspoons pub in Christchurch. it reads ....
Over a year on (from the Councils rejection) and here is another senior citizen eagerly awaiting the arrival of a Wetherspoon pub in Christchurch! I have read a load of rubbish about chavs throwing up and other hogwash as to why the town should not have a Wetherspoon pub. Of all the Wetherspoon pubs I have visited including their pub/hotel at Henley -On-Thames I find them to be orderly and very well managed establishments. I suggest that these stories are put about by people in the town with a vested interest in keeping the competition out! Lymington has finally relented so perhaps our town council will look more favourably on the next application from this company. What is good enough for Henley and Lymington is surely good enough for Christchurch!
If anyone is interested can we start a group and campaign/discussion to help combat the unjustified prejudice that our town council seems to be taking in refusing a licence to JD Wetherspoon. I have no connection with the company but just a regular guy in his 60s who wants to buy an affordable pie & pint!
