I have just heard that Dorset Council is closing Christchurch High Street to traffic along with Bridge street. Well that's one way to wipe out our high street.
I only hope they are ready to pay all the shopkeepers who have to close down because there are no customers left - some real compensation. That should wipe out the rest of any services for the rest of us.
So all of the restaurants in Bridge street will have no parking on street - where will customers park - they certainly won;t walk?
Why are all the buses going to be moved into town - there is plenty of room for a turnaround just on the outskirts - leaving the high street for local traffic.
The by pass is overcrowded simply because the council did not listen to local people who told them that turining one house into five flats increases cars ten fold.
If this goes ahead in a couple of months time I forecast the Town will be a ghost town before Christmas ANY BETS?
