Why is it, that some Councillors, like Derek Borthwick, stand for election representing one group, then immediately jump ship, and defect to another party. This must betray those who voted for him during May's election. Should it not be that if an elected Councillor defects, there should be a by-election to allow the voters the opportunity to re-elect the political party they voted for in the first place.

I don't suppose anything like this could ever happen in Christchurch could it?

Surely none of the current elected Councillors would betray the tust of those who elected them, would they?
