As well as the music festival down on Christchurch Quay, on Saturday 4 July, Boghoppers & Bushbeaters organised a Day of Dance. We had belly dancers, Appalachian dancers and lots of Morris dancers, dancing on Christchurch Quay, in Church Street and in Saxon Square.
In the afternoon, in Saxon Square, all teams performed one dance for the Deputy Mayor of Christchurch, Councillor Josie Spencer, who had to judge which team had caused the biggest stir during the day, and present them with a wooden spoon as a prize. Black Horse & Standard Morris, from London, won the competition this year.
All teams collected during the day. We don't yet know what the total collection is, but all proceeds from the dancing, as well as the music on the Quay, will go to the Mayor of Christchurch's charities.
It was a lovely day. The weather was gorgeous, the dance teams were stunning in their brightly-coloured kit and spectators were very supportive, giving generously throughout the day. A good time was had by all.
It sound like you had a really good day, I'm sorry i didn't know it was on otherwise I would have come and watched !
Do you have any photos you can post on here for us to see ?
