Christchurch Borough Homewatch is now one year old. They have a dedicated committee working to build and improve the Homewatch scheme in Christchurch, working closely with the police and other local partners they now have over 1500 street contacts across Christchurch helping to keep an eye on their neighbourhoods.

Although Dorset is still one of the safest places in the country in which to live with one of the lowest crime rates in the country, Dorset Police are committed to reducing it even further, but it needs the support of the community.  Home Watch provides an important way for people to play their part in making Dorset Safer and making Dorset Feel Safer. Check out their website at www.christchurchhomewatch.org.uk

The scheme is excellent; simple and effective. Please keep signing up because an extra set of eyes is all we might need to guarantee our community remains safe.

The more people signed up the safer it'll be. We're already in a safe area thanks to initiatives like this. Please continue the dark work!

Can you help Christchurch Borough Homewatch ? We urgently need Co-ordinators and Road Contacts in all areas of the borough. If you have a couple of hours spare you can help us to maintain the low crime rate we currently enjoy, which results in a better quality of life for us all.

If you have the time, please contact the Watch Co-ordinator at
    watch.office@btinternet.com.

Dont feel so safe in Christchurch - we have a great neighbour watch manager/coordinator who gives us regular updates on crime in the our road and surrounding areas . But despite living in what I thought was a 'safe' road . . I have had an expensive childs micro scooter stolen in daylight. Due to an oversight on my behalf of not lockng the car one night, saw a wallet and driving license stolen. Further down the road a motorbike stolen and set alight, a bike stolen and a van broken into (all within 2 months). Dont be fooled, it isnt as safe as you think. Homewatch is great but not a substitute for CCTV camera. Dont fall into the trap of feeling safe and are therefore not so vigilant, like I did!!!

yes, thanks matthew for those comforting words !! lol But I know what you mean - We have a guy that lives two doors from us who is the neighbourhood watch chap and one night our car bonnet was used as a stepping stone to get over out neighbours wall for some idiot to go garden hoping. 3 footprints and dents on the car and the neighbours wall damaged.
