Riots in the UK - Dorset Police take action to keep the County safe
Contingencies put in place include additional police patrols within Dorset and the deployments of officers to both Bristol and London. This is because of the obvious and clear threats to the public in those areas.
In addition, Dorset Police arrested a 23-year-old man from Bournemouth on suspicion of incitement to riot, following reports of information being forwarded by an electronic device regarding a potential planned disorder in Bournemouth Town Centre. He is helping police with their enquiries.
Assistant Chief Constable Adrian Whiting said: "Our priorities are to protect people and property in Dorset, clearly demonstrated by this afternoon's arrest. The people of Dorset can be reassured that anyone suspected of committing such offences will be investigated and, if appropriate, rigorously pursued through the criminal justice system."
In respect of Dorset Police support to other Forces, ACC Whiting continued: "As well as keeping Dorset safe we must also assist colleagues in other areas to achieve their similar aims.
