Christchurch launches Poppy Appeal

Saturday 27th October saw the launch of Christchurch's Poppy Appeal. The event began as the Christchurch Royal British Legion Band marched to Saxon Square followed by the Royal British Legion Riders on motorcycles.

Mayor Peter Hall gets his poppy
The launch was attended by Christchurch Mayor Peter Hall who bopught poppies from the Christchurch Carnival Page Boy, James Nicole (10) and Carnival Princess Miya Speak (8).
Saxon Square was lined with stalls manned by representatinves from the Sea, Air and Army Cadets, the Christchurch British Legion Band took up their position at the head of the square and played several sets of music over the course of the morning.
Ivo the Clown provided laughs for youngsters. Last year's poppy appeal saw Christchurch raise over £32,000.
